Each Just Because™ Original is truly "A Gift within a Gift". For each purchase, we will make a donation to one of our partner charities. We have purposefully selected charities that go above and beyond in providing ongoing hope, support, and care to women, children and their families at times of greatest need. For 2007, we have committed our charity giving to two wonderful organizations, Compassionate Passages, Inc. and Gilda's Club of Metro Detroit. Our partner charities have touched many lives through their collective wisdom of experience we are pleased to partner with them to further their mission.

Mission: To advocate, educate and conduct research that assists families, healthcare professionals and the community in being supportive during and after the death of a child.

Vision: To be the leading "family voice" for supportive pediatric end-of-life care.

Objectives:

• Advocate on behalf of dying children and their families and empower families to self-advocate for compassionate end-of-life care.
• Educate healthcare professionals and the community as to how they can help families during and after the loss of a child.
• Conduct research that will change policy/procedures and assist in creating resources related to supportive care for dying children and their families.
• Bring awareness to the range of decisions, situations and issues that families face while a child is dying.
• Inspire those that care for dying children to be compassionate and empathetic to all the family's needs-physical, psychosocial, financial, and spiritual.
• Encourage more open and honest dialogue about the death of a child to facilitate healing among families, healthcare professionals and communities.

Gilda's Club Metro Detroit is a free, non-residential cancer support community in Royal Oak founded by eight committed women whose lives were touched by cancer. The signature "red door" to our beautifully restored clubhouse opened in 1998.

Gilda's Legacy: Gilda's Club is named in honor of the late comedian and former Detroiter Gilda Radner. Her dream was to create places where people living with cancer and their families and friends could gather to support one another and celebrate life. The dream found fulfillment with the opening of Gilda's Club New York City in 1995. Since that time, Gilda's Clubs have been opening around the world.

Mission: To create a community where men, women and children with all types of cancer and their families and friends can enhance the quality of their lives through support, networking and education.

Goal: To provide a home-like meeting place and free program where anyone living with cancer can: build friendships, share the collective wisdom of experience, and develop strategies for living with cancer.

Philosophy: Emotional and social support are as essential as medical care when cancer is in the family, not only for those living with cancer but also for their families and friends. Support received by joining with others who are also living with cancer enables people to live their lives to the fullest, no matter the outcome. No one should ever have to face cancer alone.
